Classes generally offered by Knox Bike Racing:
Juniors – Strictly age based category; great way for kids/teenagers to race against others that are similar in age.
Beginner – Great place to start if you have never raced before. You can safely ride a mountain bike on mountain bike trails. Racing is different from recreational riding and you can see how you stack up. Typically riding/training: 0-3 hours a week.
Sport – You have raced mountain bikes before and feel comfortable with racing; this is where most racers end up. Consist of racers that train hard and others that are naturally fast cyclists. Typically riding/training: 2-6 hours a week.
Clydesdale – You are over 200 lbs and want to have fun with other riders who share your interest (bikes, food and maybe beer). This class is a step up from beginner as you will be doing the same number of laps as the sport class.
Expert/Open – This is the fastest category and you should have competed in many races at the sport level before competing in this class. Typically riding/training: 5+ hours a week.
E-Bike – Class 1: Pedal Assist Bicycles with an electric motor Peak Power of <=750 watts that provides motor assistance only when the rider is pedaling and only up to a speed of 20 mph. Bicycles must remain locked, i.e., no modification of wheel sensor from factory circumference or any other modification to manipulate the factory set speed of the bike.
